Hyderabad, Nov 4 (Representative) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu highlighted the government’s dedication to enhancing education and infrastructure as he addressed the community during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Young India Integrated Residential School in Gaddipalli, Huzurnagar constituency, Suryapet district, on Sunday. Joined by Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he shared updates on major infrastructure and welfare projects. Bhatti Vikramarka announced the resumption of the long-pending SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel project, now slated for completion within 20 months to meet the region’s irrigation needs. He also confirmed that work on the Yadadri Power Plant has resumed following expedited approvals, marking a significant step forward for Telangana’s energy sector. Praising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Cabinet, he noted that officials are working extensively, up to 18 hours a day, to build a more progressive and inclusive Telangana. Bhatti further highlighted the Congress-led government’s welfare commitments, citing initiatives such as Aarogyasri, which provides free healthcare up to Rs 10 lakh per family, and a Rs 18,000 crore debt waiver for farmers—policies aimed at prioritizing public welfare over private interests. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, speaking at the event, emphasized that integrated residential schools will reshape Telangana’s education system, offering students a competitive edge on the national stage.
Describing the initiative as transformative, he noted that these schools will deliver high-quality, English-medium education with modern facilities for students across various social categories, including SC, ST, BC, minorities, and general communities.He reiterated the government’s plan to establish integrated schools in every district, providing Grades 4 to 12 with residential accommodations for students and teachers alike. The Gaddipalli school, budgeted at Rs 200 crore, will serve as a model for similar institutions across Telangana. In addition, Uttam Kumar Reddy outlined the recent welfare measures for students, which include increased meal and cosmetic allowances for hostel residents and expanded financial support for students at various educational levels.To further support education, the Congress government has significantly increased the budget allocation for residential schools to Rs 5,000 crore this year, a marked rise from the previous government’s Rs 70 crore. He also addressed the state’s robust paddy procurement system, which has supported farmers following a record production of 150 lakh metric tonnes. Farmers will benefit from a Rs 500 bonus per quintal for fine paddy on top of the Centre’s MSP, while starting January 2025, the Congress government will provide fine rice free of charge to 30.5 lakh white ration card holders across Telangana.Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy lauded Uttam Kumar Reddy’s choice of Gaddipalli for the integrated school, announcing plans for a two-lane road to improve access to the facility. He also confirmed that the Congress government is enhancing infrastructure across all schools, creating improved educational environments for students.
