Maha: Jewellery collectively worth over Rs 5.50 cr seized in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Nov 2 (Agency) A Stationary Survey Team (SST) seized gold and diamond jewellery collectively worth over Rs 5.50 crore from a pick-up van at Shiroli Naka here on Saturday. While checking the vehicles at Shiroli Naka this evening in the run-up to the state assembly election, the team stopped a pickup van of Radiant Valuable Logistics Limited on suspicion and during the search of the vehicle, they found 4949.21 gram of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 5,58,72,085.

When asked about the said jewellery, the driver of the vehicle informed that it belonged to Chandukaka Saraf and Sons Limited. The Income Tax Department and Goods and Services Tax Department officials are carrying out verification of the documents (receipts) submitted by them, a press release issued by district information office said.
